What happens at each session →

No need to book. Seniors can come and go as they like. Juniors: a parent or carer needs to come to the first session to sign them up, and juniors need to be collected by a parent or an adult the parent has named.

The new building

Same corner. Better building.

We haven't moved. The old church on the corner of Scarsdale Road and Chesterfield Road has been rebuilt from the roof down, so the next generation of Woodseats kids gets a space as good as they deserve.

Run by youth workers

Every session is led by a trained, paid youth worker. Richard Hay has led the club for over 20 years, after coming here himself as a young person.

Young people can get confidential advice from a youth worker about anything on their mind.

Hire the new space

Rooms available during the school day and at weekends for classes, clubs, meetings, workshops and community groups. Every booking helps fund our youth work.

We're a registered charity. Donations keep a trained youth worker in every session, three nights a week. Volunteers, local businesses and funders are all welcome too.

The building

For 60 years young people in Woodseats have had a place of their own on Scarsdale Road. In 2024 the old church was rebuilt from the roof down: a new upstairs, a new kitchen, solar panels and an outdoor games area.

Our story

Sixty years on the corner

  1. 1966

    The club opens

    A disused church is turned into a space for young people. The name comes from the year.

  2. 2000s

    A familiar face

    Richard Hay, once a member himself, takes the lead. He's still here over 20 years later.

  3. 2022

    Funding secured

    The club wins its bid to modernise the building for the next 50 years.

  4. 2024

    The rebuild

    A new second floor, roof and solar panels, a new kitchen and an outdoor games area.

  5. 2026

    Sixty years

    Back in a building that matches the work that goes on inside it.

Our first session of the week, just for younger members. It's busy, noisy and full of games, with youth workers running activities and helping everyone make friends.

First time? A parent or carer needs to come along to your child's first session to sign them up.

Collection: juniors can only leave with a parent or an adult the parent has named to us.

A drop-in for young people from any school. Come when you like, leave when you like, and spend the night however you want: sport, gaming or just a sofa and a chat.

What happens

  • Music, the speaker and dance
  • The tuck shop

Someone to talk to: youth workers are there for anything on your mind, in confidence. There's also a sexual health drop-in for anyone 14 and over.

A friendly, girls-only session run by our female youth worker. The whole club is yours for the night, including the hall and the consoles, with space to talk about the things that matter.

  • Group chats about confidence, self-esteem and anything else

Your first visit

  1. Just turn up

    No booking needed. Come along at the start of a session, on your own or with a mate. Juniors (8–11): a parent or carer comes to the first session to sign them up.

  2. Sign in

    Everyone signs in when they arrive, so we know who's in the building. Pay your subs at the door.

  3. Get stuck in

    A youth worker will show you round and introduce you. After that, the night's yours.

These are the rules and promises that shape how Double Six runs. They're agreed by our trustees and reviewed every year. Open any of them to read it in full, and look out for the short versions written for young people.

Worried about a young person?

Tell us straight away. You don't need to be sure and you don't need proof. If a child is in immediate danger, call 999 first.

Making a complaint

Tell any worker, message us, email or write. You don't need a form and you don't need to use the word "complaint". Worries about a young person's safety skip these stages and go straight to our safeguarding lead.

  1. Sort it out early

    Within 5 working days

    Most things get put right on the spot by the worker you tell, the session leader or Richard.

  2. Formal complaint

    Reply within 20 working days

    We acknowledge it within 5 working days, look into it properly and write back with what we found and what we'll do.

  3. Trustee review

    Ask within 20 working days

    Still unhappy? Two trustees who weren't involved look at it again. Contact Mark Brine, Chair of Trustees.

After that, you can go to the Charity Commission about how the charity is run, or the Information Commissioner's Office about personal data. Questions about your data can go to our data protection lead, Jack Shakeshaft.

How booking works

  1. Tell us what you need

    Fill in the enquiry form with the room, the date and roughly how many people. We'll get back to you about availability and the price.

  2. Come and look round

    Pop in and see the space before you book. We'll show you where everything is.

  3. Confirm and book

    Sign the hire agreement and pay a deposit. Then the room's yours on the day.

No commitment. Ask about a date, a regular slot or just the price.

Good to know

  • Youth sessions use the building on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings in term time, so those slots aren't available.
  • We're sorry, but we don't take bookings for birthday parties.
  • Groups working with children need their own safeguarding policy, DBS-checked leaders and public liability insurance.
  • Everyone who hires the building agrees to treat our staff and volunteers with respect, as set out in our policies.
